Project Details
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Armenia’s Program for Institutional and Regulatory Strengthening of Water Management is extending reforms and improving performance of Armenian water resources management and associated regulatory institutions.
Prime contractor PA Consulting asked Riverside Technology, inc. (Riverside) to implement a major component of the project — Strengthening of Water Resources Monitoring.
Riverside first conducted a thorough assessment of Armenia’s present water resources monitoring systems, procedures, and practices; water use permit conditions; and compliance assurance of permit conditions.
Based on this comprehensive review, Riverside prepared a plan for improving Armenia’s water resources monitoring systems, including:
- Options for phased implementation
- Training on water monitoring guidelines
- Assistance in actual implementation of the plan
Riverside staff reviewed design drawings and statements of civil work for each station, inspected and advised on the rehabilitation of existing stations and the construction and equipment installation for new stations, and provided training on the operation and maintenance of new gaging stations.
